OUR CLIENT is a reputable and established REIT who have won awards and who successfully operate across multiple commercial property sectors. We have been solely instructed by them to recruit an Assistant Accountant to cover a forthcoming maternity contract within their finance team who strive for sustained excellence and to always provide value to all their stakeholders.


THE ROLE - will report to the Director and will provide accounting support to them as well as other members of the team. As the Assistant Accountant your core duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Producing weekly BACS payments, and quarterly VAT returns to be approved by the Financial Controller.
  • Recording and processing of all supplier invoices in line with company procedures.
  • Loading of monthly managing agent journals onto the accounting system, and reconciling balances, as necessary.
  • Supervising the performance of managing agents on all aspects of accounting, including monthly reporting, tax accounting, expenditure review, s/c closures, and charge raising.
  • Producing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Producing monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
  • Producing and filing monthly CIS returns for relevant company entities.
  • Supporting the quarterly property reporting to MSCI process and addressing any queries.
  • Supporting the preparation of quarterly management accounts, and financial reports.
  • Responding to audit queries whenever necessary.
  • Processing staff expense claims whenever necessary.
  • Supporting the Director in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.

THE PERSON: To apply, you will possess a solid background in accounting within the property/ real estate sector and ideally have experience of dealing with managing agents, be used to handling sensitive and confidential information. You should have a good command of MS Office (Excel / Word) and possess strong communication skills. You should be competent and ‘hands on’, be able to reconcile bank accounts, maintain all aspects of purchase ledger, produce VAT returns and be comfortable preparing balance sheet and financial statement information.
