Our Client is a London based property developer, investment and management firm. They have been established for more than 10 years and are looking to expand following a recent relocation of their offices. They are looking to build new homes targeting first-time buyers in the London and surrounding areas. As a result of this, they are looking for a Commercial Manager to join their development team.

 

The Role: Reporting directly to the Associate Director, the role will include the following duties:

  • Responsible for managing and controlling house building development costs from start to completion. Ensuring strategies to minimise costs are explored whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Overseeing financial key performance indicators (KPIs) of a project. Ensuring that the project team understands key financial and commercial aspects of the project.
  • Assessing financial and commercial risks and reporting, providing financial direction to the project team and advice to the Associate Director.
  • Managing and maintaining a relationship with external quantity surveyors and their work.
  • Maintaining existing company frameworks, monitoring performance of the framework suppliers.
  • Resolving contractual and commercial issues.
  • Evaluating and agreeing contract variations.
  • Carrying out monthly site valuations.
  • Attending site progress meetings.
  • Reporting on financial performance to the team. 


The Person must have 2 years’ post qualification experience in a quantity surveying and will be currently working at a consultancy or property developer. They should have a proven track record of working on high end residential projects in the UK, preferably in London. The person will have knowledge managing residential project costs and understanding commercial issues. Experience of contractor procurement is needed along with the ability to handle the costings and budgets. High levels of emotional intelligence and communication are required in this role to ensure teamwork, effective decision making and a results orientated approach.
