Financial Controller – Listed Real Estate Co-Central London

OUR CLIENT is a successful, Pan-European real estate investment and management company with an extensive portfolio spanning £100 Millions – billion+. They have instructed us to help recruit a Financial Controller for their UK business.  

The ROLE  - Managing a small, professionally and highly skilled  finance team, the Financial Controller will involve the following duties: 

  • Overseeing the production of statutory accounts.
  • Preparing quarterly variance analysis (including commentary) and financial reports to present to the Board.
  • Preparing annual budgets and reforecasts.
  • Responsible for the accounting treatment of UK transactions and senior management recommendations including acquisitions, disposals and developments and preparation/review of accounting memos.
  • Producing and providing the seniors with accounts for group consolidations including posting of journals and adjustments.
  • Overseeing the production of annual statutory accounts and corporation tax computations
  • Reviewing VAT and CIS returns.
  • Reviewing the monthly development costs.
  • Maintaining and improving the internal controls, reporting and systems.

THE PERSON – To apply you must be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA), ideally with experience of managing audits and around 4 years post-qualification experience. Good, solid technical skills and understanding of relevant accounting standard such as FRS 101 / IFRS are essential. The incumbent will be a strong team leader with strong communication skills and the ability to motivate a team. It will be desirable if you have experience of working with a ‘top 4’ and a good level of experience and have previous team management exposure and direct real estate industry experience and any additional exposure to real estate systems migration and consolidation would be advantageous .
