Our Client require an experienced and qualified HSSE Manager to work within their HSSE team. The role will be required to undertake the full range of duties appropriate to the provision of health, safety and sustainability in the workplace and for properties that they manage on behalf of Clients, in accordance with applicable statutory obligations, emerging legislation and ‘good-practice’ guidelines.

You will be the firm’s ‘Subject Matter Expert’ for energy/sustainability related issues and responsible for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Phase Two submission for the firm.  In addition, you will advise external clients, mentor the HSSE Coordinators, undertake Workstation Assessments and work with the contracted-out Facilities Management provider to ensure statutory compliance.


The Role:

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting on energy, waste-streams and paper management for the firm.
  • Ensuring targets and programmes are met whether through formal targeting, projects or via specific programmes.
  • Developing the Safety Management System towards compliance with the upcoming ISO 45001 standard.
  • Successfully managing the electronic property database by covering all employee H&S issues across the UK offices together with maintenance issues at those premises.
  • Reviewing the monthly reports from the property system to examine trends and to take necessary corrective actions.
  • Meeting with the various Enforcement Agencies (Local Authorities, London Fire Brigade, Health & safety Executive Etc.).
  • Ensuring that the supply chain / procurement system is up to date with competent contractors and suppliers.
  • Preparing tender submissions inclusive of advice to the business as required.
  • Attending committees, working parties etc.
  • Supporting the Property Managers with practical assistance in resolving HSSE issues.
  • Participating in and monitor corrective actions arising out of audits and risk assessments.
  • Monitoring changes in legislation/best practice and update key stakeholders as required.
  • Producing management reports, newsletters and bulletins including the monthly board reports.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of training modules.


The Person: To apply, you MUST have worked within a small/medium sized UK based Property /facilities management firm and have an in-depth knowledge of health & safety legislation as well as hold an IOSH qualification and ideally be a member of BIFM and either have or working towards your NEBOSH qualification. You will also possess a track record of carrying out premise inspections and provide advice on a wide range of HSSE matters. Good communication skills are vital as liaising with various internal and external parties is key.
