OUR CLIENT is a driven and expanding pan-European real estate business with a proven track record based on success and with a healthy pipeline – as it continues to expand it requires an additional driven and experienced Property Accountant  to oversee portfolio of property management companies across multiple jurisdictions – so experience in European property management practices will be key.

THE ROLE will assume day to day responsibility for overseeing all elements of the service charge process and accounting, managing the property managers to make sure deadlines are met and reporting and accounting are accurate. You will also review and oversee other property management-related tasks. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and managing accurate service charge TB/ GL entries, cash reconciliations and recoverability reconciliations.
  • Managing the annual service charge budgeting process.
  • Managing year end service charge reconciliations, file production and audit process within the required timeline.
  • Creating standard company service charge budget packs and service charge year end packs and association reconciliations (including TB/ GL and cash reconciliations).
  • Performing monthly and quarterly SC variance analysis and process management across the portfolio.
  • Overseeing monthly and quarterly service charge and utility reconciliation, service charge accruals and prepayments; and end variance reporting.
  • Preparing financial information to present to management and other stakeholders.
  • Managing Landlord void service charge contributions.
  • Undertaking ad-hoc property management tasks based on business needs.
  • Managing quarterly rental, service change and utility billing.
  • Managing the rent collections and stat reporting, including payover to Landlord function.
  • Performing month end management cash and trial balance report reconciliations.
  • Managing credit control and reviewing collection statistics.

THE PERSON – You will ideally possess at least ten years’ experience in the property management / real estate sector (UK and Europe) and be able to demonstrate strong experience in service charge accounting with accompanying skills in reconciliation (trial balance and cash) with a good understanding of double-entry and be a competent Excel user  - comfortable with the VLOOKUP function, working with pivot tables and formulae. You will be agile, adaptable and a team player and possess excellent communication skills, comfortable working in an international environment. A working knowledge of property Systems – QUBE, YARDI, TRAMPS is preferred.
