Service Charge Accountant – Real Estate-London

Our Client is one of the most successful and acclaimed property owners based in Central London. They are known for owning and managing a large portfolio of commercial and residential assets throughout Central London and other major regions across the UK. They are currently looking for a Service Charge Accountant to join their highly-acclaimed finance team at their London office.

The Role will see the individual reporting directly to the Head of Accounts, carrying out responsibilities such as:

  • In conjunction with the Property Manager, compiling the service charge budgets for each of the service charge properties.
  • Loading the agreed budgets onto their Property Management System.
  • Carrying out a quarterly budget variance analysis and advising Property Managers.
  • Reconciling the balancing service charge accounts for the Long Leasehold and Commercial properties, including any necessary accruals/adjustments.
  • Ability to interpret the service charge provisions of a lease is a must.
  • Recalculating any RPI increases on any capped service charges in accordance with the terms of the leases.
  • Journal expenditure between cost codes when items have been coded incorrectly.
  • Calculating the tenant recharges for electricity used in their demised areas.
  • Supplying up to date budget information when required to the lettings team, in-house and external lawyers, for any potential letting or sale.
  • Liaising and meeting with both Tenants and in-house staff, to resolve any service charge queries.

The Person will be required to demonstrate relevant previous experience of working within the property sector, and any relevant qualifications will be beneficial to your application. The person should also have solid experience of using a property management system such as Yardi, Horizon or Tramps. If you possess a decent academic record, have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as have a detailed understanding of the different RICS codes, then this role proves to be a great opportunity for you to apply for.
