OUR CLIENT is a thriving, lean, entrepreneurial and commercially active Family Office who concentrate their efforts in the UK real estate sector, but who also undertake non real estate investments. With a strong balance sheet, they are continuing to seek opportunities to further expand their real estate portfolio. As they continue to evolve and further to recent restructuring of the finance team, they now seek to appoint a part-qualified Accountant to support their Financial Controller and to take responsibility for accounts payable and receivable, as well as providing bookkeeping and other finance department support.


THE ROLE: Reporting to the Financial Controller, the person will be responsible for the following duties:

Accounts Payable:

· Maintaining all aspects of the purchase ledger database, conducting payment runs and handling all resulting queries.

· Analysing and posting credit card expenditure.

· Reconciling quarter end purchase ledger, petty cash and supplier statements as required.

Accounts Receivable:

· Producing rent, service charge and other demands on a quarterly and monthly basis.

· Producing completion statements for new and setting up and raising annual insurance charges.

· Liaising with tenants to ensure timely collection of rent, service charge and other debts.

· Producing tenant statement and demand letters as required.

Treasury:

· Performing weekly bank reconciliations for all entities and weekly cash reports.

· Daily processing tenant receipts and banking as required.

· Preparing application requests for the drawdown or repayment of funds and drafting bank instructions and letters.

Accounting and Reporting:

· Assisting with the general ledger maintenance.

· Maintaining weekly receivables and arrears reports.

· Performing quarterly sales and purchase to general ledger reconciliations.

· Assisting in with year-end audit queries as required.

· Involvement with Project and Development accounting and control - including actual versus budget tracking.

AdHoc:

  • Assisting with one-off and adhoc projects as they arise.


THE PERSON: To apply, you will be a bright and pro-active, self-starter who has already embarked on professional accounting studies (ACCA) and will be looking to establish a career in finance. You should have gained c2+ years’ experience in an accounts role, ideally within the real estate industry and be proficient across accounts payable and receivable responsibilities, as well as having gained exposure to bank reconciliations. It is essential that you possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and that you are able to stay calm and professional while handling your duties. Furthermore, you should have an excellent eye for detail and be able to provide a high quality of accuracy. Our client is looking for a team player who is alert and accountable, able and willing to help make improvements, whilst being inquisitive and hungry to learn. You will also possess a ‘commercial’ spirit and be genuinely interested in contributing to the success of the business.
