OUR CLIENT has been a pioneer of the alternative residential sector as both a developer and operator for over 3 decades, investing billions of pounds in expanding community offerings throughout the UK. Because the company is in the process of implementing a new finance system, they are now seeking a Financial Assistant to ensure that all data and balances are complete, accurate, and up to date and own them going forward.

THE ROLE: The Finance Assistant position, which reports to the Group Head of finance, is a broad-based role that covers all areas of the Finance Department and is critical to the success of the new system. You will be expected to undertake below listed, but not limited duties:


  • Updating cash books on the accounting system.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.


  • Ensuring all intercompany balances are fully reconciled, proposing payments to clear outstanding amounts.
  • Assisting with general ledger reconciliation of accounts rarely used.
  • Identifying any postings in incorrect entities as a result of database issues, rectifying these as necessary.
  • Reviewing ledgers to identify changes in accounting treatment, moving costs to new codes as required.

Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger:

  • Responsible for reviewing and updating supplier standing data.
  • Reconciling supplier statements, requesting additional invoices as required.
  • Reviewing supplier accounts to identify duplicate invoices and overpayments.
  • Matching direct debit payments to invoices.
  • Reconciling petty cash.
  • Preparing aged debtor reporting.
  • Allocating sales ledger receipts.
  • Maintaining sales ledger standing data.
  • Setting up of Direct Debits and reporting.
  • Undertaking other ad hoc duties as required.

THE PERSON: To apply for this position, you must be familiar with accounting software packages and have decent Microsoft exp and Excel skills. You will be able to demonstrate sound accounting and bookkeeping experience. You will be self-disciplined and efficient, with a flexible and proactive personality and the ability to work to deadlines.
