OUR CLIENT is a large global private equity real estate investment company who add value to real estate investment and development opportunities, providing investors with access to real estate that is managed centrally by highly experienced and innovative managers with local knowledge, support and access to deal flow. The company manages a £multi-billion diverse portfolio of real estate investments. They have instructed us to help hire a Senior Financial Controller for a fixed 12 month contract to join the UK Finance Team.


THE ROLE: Reporting directly to the Group Controller, you will lead the UK finance team and deliver financial reporting to the company and joint venture entities. You will manage a team of inhouse accountants and a number of third-party service providers, and will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure successful and on time delivery of financial reporting.
  • Consolidating the results including the delivery of monthly management accounts to senior management.
  • Ongoing people management of the UK financial reporting team including ensuring new employees are successfully onboarded and that the team delivers to the highest standard.
  • Overseeing the running of various audit engagements with the external auditor, ensuring all audit requests are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Preparing annual IFRS consolidated financial statements.
  • Managing SOX compliance and working closely with externally appointed advisors to ensure the maintenance of a strong financial control environment.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders including investment partners, and senior management across Europe and the US.
  • Assisting in financial system improvement projects aimed at streamlining finance processes and further enhancing financial reporting capabilities.


THE PERSON: To be the successful applicant, you must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent), preferably with an experience gained in the property investment / asset management or construction sectors. You must have 5+ years of proven experience managing a medium sized team and possess strong working knowledge of IFRS, and desirably US GAAP, as well as experience in consolidated accounting. You are expected to feel confident using Excel and be commercially minded demonstrating an ability to interpret financial information. If you feel confident with all above duties and as a person you are Well organised with a proven ability to plan and stay organised as well as a great communicator able to interact at all levels within an organisation, this could be a great opportunity to join a global real estate investment firm on a fixed term contract basis.
