Fund Controller Pan-European Real Estate - OUR CLIENT is an established international real estate investment platform is strengthening its European finance function and is looking to appoint a senior commercial Fund Controller to take full financial oversight of a pan-European investment strategy.

The business has a substantial European real estate portfolio and is continuing to evolve its finance model, with greater use of external administrators, advisers and technology. This creates a genuinely commercial Fund Controller position. The Fund Controller will sit close to the investment and asset management teams, providing financial oversight, challenge and insight rather than simply managing the production of accounts.

This is an exciting opening for an experienced Fund Controller who wants broader ownership across fund finance, capital, transactions and structuring, this is an opportunity to operate at the centre of a sophisticated European real estate platform.

THE ROLE:
The Fund Controller will take ownership of the financial governance and control of the relevant pan-European funds, including:

  • Full oversight of fund accounting, statutory and tax reporting.
  • Ownership of quarterly and annual closes, NAV and investor-facing financial outputs.
  • Oversight of portfolio entity accounting across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Fund liquidity planning, cash management, capital flows and distributions.
  • Oversight of debt facilities, covenant compliance and lender reporting.
  • Management of external administrators, accountants, auditors and other service providers.
  • Acting as finance lead on acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and refinancing activity.
  • Working closely with Tax, Legal, Fund Operations, Investment and Asset Management.
  • Supporting new jurisdictions and assessing the financial, tax and governance implications.
  • Ensuring structures remain compliant, efficient and commercially robust.
  • Developing scalable processes as the platform continues to grow.

The Fund Controller will be expected to translate complex portfolio and fund activity into clear, reliable and commercially meaningful financial information.

THE PERSON:
We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with significant post-qualified experience gained within real estate private equity, fund management or an institutional real assets environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong pan-European real estate fund experience, including multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with Luxembourg fund structures.
  • Excellent technical fund accounting knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of capital structures, debt and liquidity.
  • Experience operating within an outsourced fund administration model.
  • The confidence to manage and challenge external administrators and advisers.
  • Strong commercial judgement and an ability to understand the wider investment strategy.
  • Experience partnering with investment and asset management professionals.
  • The ability to take ownership of complex workstreams and see them through.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to challenge constructively.

European real estate fund experience and the ability to operate commercially are central to the brief.

The successful Fund Controller will be someone who can move comfortably between the detail and the bigger picture: understanding the numbers, questioning them where necessary and explaining what they mean to senior stakeholders.
