Nearly £7bn of rent hangs in the balance as landlords and tenants wrangle over arrears racked up during the pandemic.

Owners of offices, shopping centres and other commercial properties were owed £6.97bn as of the end of June, according to Remit Consulting.

The British Property Foundation said that an agreement had been reached in about 80% of cases.
