Thousands
of homeowners could face the threat of repossession when mortgage holidays end
next month.
From November people
will no longer be able to ask their lender to defer mortgage repayments and a
moratorium on repossessions for mortgage arrears will be lifted.
About 1.9m people, one
in six borrowers, deferred repayments after losing income during the pandemic.
While lenders have
been asked to continue to support customers in difficulty, there will be no
formal scheme and they will be free to resume repossessions.
